Bali

I went to Bali with my mother in March for a week. I really enjoy traveling, seeing and experiencing new things as well as shopping! It just seem that went you go overseas money seems like monopoly money and can be spent freely. LOL.

Well, I have always wanted to try snorkeling so told my mum that we never been to nice beaches to do scuba diving or snorkeling. I mean Singapore beaches does not have clear waters to see the sea creatures so I wanted to experience something new.  Plus Hawaii and Maldives are just too expensive. Fortunately for me, my mum remembered and also enjoyed traveling so when Singapore Airlines was having a promotion she decided to treat me to Bali.

Day 1:

Before going to bali, my mother booked some tours from Sila Tour as well as transport from airport to hotel after hearing that it is cheaper online. So when we arrived at the airport, there was a driver waiting for us. It was pretty cool as he was holding a board with our name on it. I felt like some star hahaha. Anyway we touched down pretty late so there was nothing much. We first went to ubud. The hotel we booked is Bembengan Ubud Cottages was the traditional balinese style. It was pretty ulu but the people there was quite nice and led us in. I really like the room especially the door :) The room smelt real good I think it was jasmine and I really like it. (in fact, the next morning my hair actually smelt of jasmine.) But the downside is it is not that near to the city center. Walk is can walk but just have to walk quite a bit.

It felt like a princess bed with the mosquito net.

Day 2:

I woke up to the chirping of birds. It was really nice and totally different from Singapore. The breakfast was provided it was too salty and i didn't really like the fruit juice. But the layout was nice LOL. Then we went for a cycling tour by Bali Breeze Tours. It was generally okay cos mostly downslope but pretty scary. The uphill part was tiring plus my bike the brake sucks so I just gave up and took the van provide instead. HAHA it was so hot, since i paid for it, enjoying the air-con more worth while mah. The scenary was beautiful and the lunch provided was delicious.

Rice Plantation

Asian Palm Civet eating coffee berries.

After sunning, the coffee beans were removed from the feces of the civet and is roasted to make luwat coffee.

A whole range of drink made in the farm. I don't really appreciate coffee so didn't really enjoy the luwat coffee but can taste its difference from normal coffee lah. The they gave wasn't filtered so it was disgusting towards the end.

Then they gave us banana pancakes to eat while looking at these scenery. FANTASTIC!

More cycling and beautiful sceneries that can't be found in Singapore.

Then after dinner, we went to watch the Kecak Fire and Trance show. It was a little boring after i got over being fascinated by the chorus of the people (it sounded a little like choir and was pretty nice) cos they just kept repeating and the whole show was in Bahasa Indonesian so i do not really understand. However the ending was great cos the person actually step on burning coconut shell without shoes, I think its a little like Thaipusam. My mum was telling me how her colleague dare not to watch as she was afraid of being in trance cos she understand the language plus heard many bad storied like some people walked away halfway though the show and was possessed. Pretty creepy fortunately my mum only told me after the show.

Day 3:

Explored Ubud and visited many of their places of interest. Their massages was super cheap, less than $10 and it was good. It was sooo comfortable especially after the previous day cycling trip.

There were many monkeys but we didn't really dared to take photos cos there were many signs warning us that the monkeys are very aggressive. Overall the park is pretty rundown was wasn't that fantastic.

This ice-cream store was so high that it made me felt like a kid.

The waterfall was beautiful and I felt like I was in a playground hopping from stones to stones.

The rest of the day was spent massaging, shopping and traveling to Sanur.  We wanted to book a boat to Lombok but we had to stay for the night in the island so we ended up not going. I wanted to go Lombok after seeing how beautiful the scenery is on We got Married, Jang-woo and Eun-Jung. Oh wells, my mum say we can go another time and just take the plane there directly since there is an airport there.

Day 4

We stayed at Puri Maharani which felt like a resort. The room is pretty big. Puri Maharani provides a free shuttle bus and free access to Sanur Beach Hotel which was super grand and the beach is lovely. White sand with clear waters clear enough to see fishes and seaweed. We even played table tennis which was fun cos the last time I played table tennis with my mum was when we still stayed at Ballota Park.

I braided my hair :)

The rest of the day was spent like yesterday shopping and massaging. The massages were so cheap and good. I miss them man!

Day 5

Went to the top few most beautiful places in Bali!

The monkeys at Ulu Watu are even more aggressive than the monkeys in Monkey Forest. I had to not wear my specs as it was not allowed. At first i did not believe until one monkey actually snatch my rubber band right from my hair.

The view at Tanah Lot is the best! It is definitely a must go!

The rest of the time was spend shopping as usual and traveling to Kuta. We stayed in Bali Summer Hotel which was right in the city of Kuta.

Day 6

We finally did water activities. On top of the snorkeling, we even did Sea Walker! Sea Walker was super expensive but it was worth it cos there were so many fishes. We even took a video of our entire journey. Then we did snokeling which requires some time before I could get use to the equipment. Once I got use to it, it was FUN! We then took the glass bottom boat to some turtle conservation centre which was more like a zoo.

The turtle was so heavy that we are unable to lift it up.

We never brought our camera to the conservation cos my mum was worried that the camera will get wet. Fortunately, we met with a nice Johor family when took these photos and sent to us :)

In the afternoon, we took a stroll near our hotel.

The hotel was pretty. At first we wanted to eat in the cafe but it was too expensive cos we spend almost all of our money already. teehee. Bought so many stuff!

I really love their beaches! Hopefully I can return there to try surfing!

Day 7

Walked around in the morning, did more shopping and catch our flight back to Singapore . I really enjoyed the time in Bali being along with my mum and not thinking about uni applications. Thanks to the trip, I was forced to submit the application form early so no need to worry about late submission :)
